Asahi Linux has officially added support for M3 series Macs, enabling installation via the Expert mode installer. Nearly all features from M1 and M2 machines now work on M3 devices, including the webcam, internal microphones, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gb/s), hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The only major exceptions are full DCP support and the GPU, with performant 3D acceleration still in development. Sleep functionality is currently broken due to firmware framebuffer limitations, and HDMI output is disabled on MacBooks and iMacs without DCP support. Mac Studio (M3 Ultra) remains unsupported for now.

Users can install by running curl -L https://alx.sh/ | EXPERT=1 sh in macOS Terminal, followed by dnf upgrade --refresh after installation. The team aims to remove the Expert mode requirement before Fedora Linux 45 beta release.
