The Apple Upgrade Program is a device leasing service offered exclusively in the U.S. (excluding U.S. territories). Leases are managed by Klarna and require eligibility and credit approval, with final approval occurring at checkout.

To qualify, applicants must be U.S. residents aged 18 or older (or the legal age in their state), possess an accepted credit or debit card, and have an Apple ID. Further eligibility requirements are also in place. Returned devices must be in good condition; repair fees may be charged for damage. For iPhone leases, an eligible carrier is mandatory, though prepaid carrier plans are not permitted. Upgrades necessitate a new lease agreement and are contingent upon eligibility and credit approval.

This program is not applicable to refurbished devices. Furthermore, it is unavailable through specific sales channels, including the Apple Employee Purchase Plan, participating corporate Employee Purchase Programs, Apple at Work (for small businesses or enterprises), and Government, Education, or Veterans and Military Purchase Programs.
