Airbus has initiated a new flight-test campaign, the next phase of its Wing of Tomorrow programme, to evaluate high-span wings for future single-aisle aircraft. Over the next three years, the company will design, build, and flight test full-scale wing extensions, several metres long, on an A321neo. These extensions will mimic a folded wing in its fully extended position and be equipped with testing equipment to analyze performance and handling characteristics in real flight conditions.

Sue Partridge, Airbus Head of Wing of Tomorrow, highlighted the wing's significance in improving flight efficiency and stated that this campaign will "safely challenge traditional design limits and explore the benefits of longer wings
