World Baseball Classic Semifinals
Venezuela rallied to stun espn.com defending champion Japan 9-7, fueled by Wilyer Abreu's go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning to secure a semifinal berth. Italy continued its charmed run espn.com with an 8-6 victory over Puerto Rico, overcoming an early deficit to advance and complete a surprising tournament surge. Both wins set the stage for the WBC's final four, dethroning the previous titleholder and highlighting the event's unpredictable nature.
