Injury Updates
Rehabbing Blackhawks captain Connor Bedard is close to making his season debut after recovering from a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will miss the rest of the season with a right knee injury. Senators forward William Eklund is also sidelined for an extended period after injuring his ankle on a hard hit.
Game Results
The Rangers rebounded without their starter, defeating the Canucks 6-2 two days after losing Shesterkin. In San Jose, Macklin Celebrini returned from a two-game absence and scored the Sharks' first goal in a loss to the Oilers. The Flyers, meanwhile, fell 4-1 to the Hurricanes, and their winless start has them off to the worst start in franchise history, with fans chanting for coach Tocchet's firing.
Sunday Preview
With only three games on the calendar, the slate features Flyers-Hurricanes, Canucks-Rangers, and Kraken-Capitals matchups.
League Notes
Former Capitals forward Bobby Gould, who played most of his 11-year NHL career in Washington, died at age. The league also released its first regular-season update to the ESPN Top 100 player rankings and the 1-32 power rankings.
