NHL Transactions
The Washington Capitals signed prospect Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract, adding the Boston University defenseman to their playoff roster. Hutson's collegiate season ended Saturday in the Hockey East tournament, where he recorded 25 points in 36 games for the Terriers.
League Updates
The NHL trade deadline passed without major moves from Eastern Conference contenders, though several teams made depth additions to bolster playoff runs. Washington's acquisition of Hutson represents a long-term investment in defensive talent as they chase postseason positioning in the tightly contested Metropolitan Division.
