Samsung has announced an October update to its Health app that reshapes two of its in-app coaches, the Sleep Coach and the Running Coach. The company says the changes are meant to make "weekly guidance" easier to follow for users.
The Sleep Coach now requires only three days of sleep data from the past two weeks, down from seven days within a month. Users launch the coach after answering a quick survey about their sleep regularity, sleep interruptions, caffeine intake and more. The coach combines that information with the sleep data to build a tailored four- to eight-week coaching program. Samsung is also adding a Sleep Balance graph, which shows sleep time, sleep regularity, nighttime awake time, sleep satisfaction and Energy Score at a glance. Morning daily insights will offer tips based on sleep trends.
For runners, Samsung says the Running Coach has grown in popularity, prompting a systems overhaul. Its training tiers have expanded from 10 to 12, aimed at intermediate and advanced runners who want to set higher benchmarks and steadily improve. The company is also continuing its partnership with Strava, letting users import Strava Routes for running, trail running and cycling into the Samsung Health app.
Samsung says these updates will begin rolling out soon, with the Sleep Coach changes arriving first. The announcement follows an earlier Health app update tied to the Galaxy Watch 9 launch, which included Vitals, Health Heart Score and an AI-revamped Energy Score.
