MLB Opening Weekend Takeaways
The immediate aftermath of baseball's opening weekend revealed several compelling storylines, ranging from surprising player trends to the early efficacy of the new automated ball-strike system ABS. Early analysis suggests that while many top-tier rookies made strong debuts, the most widely available fantasy asset might be a player who only saw limited action last season, prompting managers to act quickly to add Sal Stewart. Furthermore, the implementation of the ABS system has generated immediate debate, leading to a definitive ranking of the best -- and worst -- challenges executed by catchers and umpires during the inaugural slate of games. These initial results offer a glimpse into what could be a historic rookie campaign, although questions also persist about whether established stars like Mike Trout are returning to form.
