MLB Roster Moves & Transactions
As clubs finalize their 40-man rosters ahead of the season, several veteran outfielders found new immediate destinations or sought immediate free agency opportunities. Veteran Randal Grichuk secured a spot on the Yankees' Opening Day roster at age, providing immediate depth in the outfield mix for New York. Conversely, outfielder Austin Slater exercised his release clause after failing to make the Tigers' Opening Day roster, indicating he will pursue opportunities elsewhere immediately. Meanwhile, the Nationals confirmed the release of right-handed reliever Drew Smith, who was terminated from his minor league deal by the Washington organization.
