MLB Roster Moves & Pitching Decisions
Major League Baseball clubs finalized several high-profile roster cuts Friday, sending top prospects to the minor leagues to address early struggles. The New York Yankees optioned outfielder Jasson Dominguez down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after a slow start to spring training, a move designed to give the young slugger more consistent at-bats. Similarly, the Washington Nationals demoted top prospect Dylan Crews to Triple-A due to persistent hitting woes, prioritizing development over immediate roster inclusion. Meanwhile, the Miami Marlins sent lefty Braxton Garrett to Jacksonville, opting instead to keep right-hander Janson Junk as their fifth starter as the season approaches. Conversely, the Philadelphia Phillies announced that rookie right-hander Andrew Painter secured the No. 5 starter role on the Opening Day roster, signaling high confidence in his readiness for the major league rotation under manager Rob Thomson.
